Continuing from part 1
Creating and cloning a profile on Hubzilla is easy but the hard part (at least for me) to decide on which hub to settle in (and which one to pick as the main if you cloned profile to multiple hubs). Naturally new users would try an account on start.hubzilla but there's a warning that this 'default' hub should not be treated as a permanent hub and it also comes with some restrictions (like having a limit of only 2 channels per user). It is designed for new users to familiarize themselves with Hubzilla.
Then for G+ refugees someone have setup the Goggleplus hub. I have some reservations about this hub. It's not because the person who set it is a bad guy or anything. It's just that I have no confidence it will be around long enough. Of course I still want them to succeed because what they're doing is pretty commendable (for providing a "refugee camp" for ex-plussers). I however wish they picked a better name though because Goggleplus doesn't sound 'catchy' enough to lure me in (though I still put my 'clone' in there anyway in case the place grows big enough and gained critical mass).
So since start.hubzilla is just a 'start' and Goggleplus doesn't look like a hub I'd settle in permanently I think I'll have to find other hubs to do another cloning. Zotum is my third hub but at this point I still haven't stopped searching. I took a peek into the 2nd and 3rd in the list of "total users" in
https://the-federation.info/hubzilla and found it hard to fit myself in because most of the users there don't seem to speak English. That would make it hard to establish a new connection (in G+ I could somewhat overcome the language barrier thanks to the built-in translation; a killer feature I think every social media should implement). That's how I ended up having many Chinese and Japanese in my G+ circles (and how I ended up being circled by those people too) though interestingly I later on found many of them were able to communicate in English with me.
BTW English is not my native language but I only use English when I'm online (FYI I speak my tribal language at home).
