I have been writing on Wattpad
and I guess I want to share a little bit about what that has meant for us.
First off. Don't put your only copies up there. I see a number of, "this is not the original story, the original got deleted from here," type stories, and this is not what people should be worried about.
So don't put your stories up there expecting them to be there forever. Well. Don't put anything up on some place to expect that they'll never get deleted either intentionally, or accidentally.
Of course, i'm currently breaking that rule, because, well my stories are only there, because I'm writing directly in the interface. Of course, that way of writing to get them up there is just easier for me, and what I'm mostly writing is stuff that I'm not really that bothered if I end up no longer have it.
At least I don't think I'm that bothered by that. I think one thing I would probably want to do is find a way to get those stories to show up in a local setting.
Anyway, I have been writing there, and I'm finding that if I'm writing regularly there, I'm actually getting some sense that people are paying attention. This is probably a good thing. I don't really know.
The stuff I'm writing is the personal stuff that I feel OK sharing. It's been interesting to just be seeing that some people are reading my stuff. I think that I wasn't really expecting that to really happen. It's just really neat that the way they have things working, that you probably won't just get buried in a massive pile of things. I do wonder if maybe I should start moving some of that to something more, "this is a personal site" which I have better control over? I don't really know.
