Yesterday I went to Carrefour for shopping. Yes, we have Carrefours too here in Turkey. I bought a few food related things. I like bulgur pilav, and it reminds me my grandmother who was cooking perfectly. She was from Erzincan where the nature is beautiful. I didn't travel there to see it yet, but there are awesome photos of Euphrates. About a month ago I saw some foods of Erzincan in a Facebook group, and I shared mine - bulgur pilav. I asked the tip of it. Some said they are adding fresh sweet basil (in Turkish reyhan). I didn't see it at open bazaar yet. I live close the two of them. Bazaar marketeers place their stands on streets on Wednesdays at one area, on Saturdays at another.
Anyway, since I saw the dry version of the sweet basil at Carrefour I bought it. I trust Carrefour, since they have quality control. When I came home I opened the package of basil and saw some amount of brushwood inside instaead of leaves. Then I looked at the label and saw 1 kg of dried version is 169TL while the one bundle costs 3.65TL. Wondering how on earth 3.65TL turned out 169TL just drying the basil I read the writings on all package. I saw it was related to two Turkish companies, one was the producer (who dried it:) ) the other one was trader. Since I bought it from Carrefour I think the dried sweet basil after packaged exported so Carrefour bought it and then imported.. This is my assumption.. Funny business are going on around earth :)
