Hi! I'm new on Hubzilla and it's looks like impressive. Congratulation!
I've a little question : where can I activate addons to add friends from Mastodon and GNU Social ?
I've read the help page
https://start.hubzilla.org/help/fr/member/member_guide#Connecting_To_Channels
but don't find...
Thank you

La LibreRie, you need to use another hub, because this "start hubzillla" does not have the plugins for federation, is just hubzilla ;)
Take a look here,
https://start.hubzilla.org/wiki/jamie/Hubzilla%253A%2B%2B%2Bfind%2B%2Ba%2Bpublic%2Bhub/Home
, I'm working on this .

a list of addons -plugins
https://github.com/redmatrix/hubzilla-addons
I think you need an hub with 'pubcrawl' and 'gnusocial' and maybe 'pubsubhubbub'
for mastodon and gnusocial

Hi, ok my mistake.
I chose start.hubzilla from
https://the-federation.info/hubzilla
It's quite misleading to be listed there - but not connectable to the federation/diaspora protocol ;(
Are there plans to connect to diaspora?
ETA?

"It's quite misleading to be listed there - but not connectable to the federation/diaspora protocol' Why?
Just because does not have the federation with diaspora?
LOL
Hubzilla is hubzilla, federation is not priority, that's also why is a "plugin' and not in the core.

I would think connecting to the federation network would be a priority for the federation members?
Otherwise what is the point of being in the federation?

you mean thefederation site?
maybe you want also a page in that site that has a list of friendica and hubzilla hubs with federation (diaspora protocol). Maybe is a good idea to create another page with this characteristic... but in that site now you can find all the hubs (friendica and hubzilla), some with and some without federation.

ps: the-federation is not OUR site ,
we work with /pubsites in every hub for a list of hubzilla hubs...

Are there plans to connect to diaspora? about 2 hours ago
ETA? about 2 hours ago
Is there a road map or timeframe?

OK well I guess I'll look for another "network" that actually connects to the network.
See you later

Might be too late to answer @
Kitt McGregor
if they've already gone, but either way others might want to know. The "Federation" refers to the extent to which a handful of independent, open source social networking platforms can interoperate. While Mike Macgirvin has done an amazing amount of work writing plugins to support communication with these platforms, there have been multiple reports of heavy server load when utilizing them. I need to make sure that the Hubzilla ⟩⟩ Start server is robust enough to allow people to explore Hubzilla properly before we add the complication of these "federation" plugins. Another thing to remember is that Hubzilla instances, or "hubs", federate between themselves. Hubzilla is its own federation, and you will find that anything you want to do that another of the platforms supports, Hubzilla does also.

I'm still here, I've been trying to find another hub that supports diaspora protocol. I'm just testing gerzilla.de at the moment.
The reason I need this is because huge numbers of my friends and their friends are on diasp.org
The reason I need hubzilla is to set up a forum/group channel - then I'll invite my network.
They are much more likely to connect if they are not required to sign up again to the federation.

a person in diaspora can have a connection with a hubzilla forum, and , also , using @nameforum+ (with the + in the end) can write in the wall-forum ;)
..but a person in diaspora always will see the forum as normal diaspora user, and so does not see for example the difference that happening in the wall forum.

for ex. : you write (in diaspora) a yt link and the @nameforum+ in the same post . I can see in hubzilla if I have the forum in my contact list.
But a person in diaspora just can see what a hubzilla-person post in the forum, and not what a diaspora person post in the forum.

I recommend
https://fediverse.party
as a landing page for federation info. Hubzilla is also listed there, with an impressive set of protocols available.
http://fediverse.party/en/hubzilla/
I also look for a software that can serve local/intentional community (and here Hubzilla is outstanding) but also can (configuration provided) communicate with other implementations.
Te reality of social networks is such, that unless we keep fediverse together, there will be one strong implementation (Mastodon, perhaps later aardwolf) to face the monopoly of FB/Twitter and scattered bunch of niche pps being "their own federations"). Whatever outcome of this encounter, we will end up with replicated structure: big players bringing more and more users and marginalised niche apps, incompatible and proud of it.
This is certainly not what is good for reclaiming internet.
I have sweet spot for hubzilla for its community-supporting applications. But community without interoperability will be dead in the water.

After reading this thread, it might be worth noting that federation via Diaspora (diaspora, socialhome, friendica), Ostatus (gnu social), Actvitypub (mastodon) protocols is already implemented in Hubzilla. It's just a matter of having those Plugins enabled.

I've been testing
https://gerzilla.de
which has diaspora protocol - it's sadly disfunctional.
I can find/add diaspora contacts but nothing else.
I can't see their posts or send messages. I can't even view their profile.
After adding them as contact they didn't even receive a notification.
And they cannot find/add Hubzilla contacts.
Utterly pointless.
How do i add a screenshot?

Hi dear Administrator, I'm back for another question
Finally, I have installed my own instance/hub on our server. It seems to work well, excepted one thing : when I would like to import my old account (step 2 after creating a new account on my hub), I'v got these 2 messages :
'Cloned channel not found. Import failed.'
'No channel. Import failed.'
Have anybody ever had the same problem?
Thanks by advance if somebody can help

Hi Administrator, me again, sorry for all theses questions, I'm beginner in Hubzilla
To post on the support@zotadel.net channel, I have to add this channel as friends/contacts, and wait for the support admin add me ? Is that the way ? And after, I can mention this channel with a ! ?

@"La LibreRie solidaire" Yes. Go to that channel (
https://zotadel.net/channel/support),
and click Login (upper left). There will be a button labeled "Remote Authenticate". Click that button, and it should authenticate you to that hub. Then go back to the channel, and you should see the "Connect" button under the channel avatar photo. Click connect. Then you should be able to post to the "Hubzilla Support Forum" by typing the name of the forum in quotation marks, preceded by the bang symbol (!)

He's right. However, if you follow the link in my response above, you should be automatically authenticated without the extra step. This is because links can be appended with your "zid" that lets the remote hub know how to request your identity.
